Setting and feel
Palia is a fantasy world: villages, a valley full of secrets and a story about why humans have returned. Loftia is solarpunk: a solarpunk world of floating islands in the sky, built around community and building a brighter future together. Where Palia leans into magic and mystery, Loftia leans into sustainability, reusing what the old world left behind and powering things with sun, wind and rain.

What's new for Palia players
- Neighborhoods. Create your own floating island and link it with other players' to form neighborhoods with shared spaces.
- Community projects. Community projects unlock resources, uncover hidden stories and open new islands.
- Co-op adventures. Scavenge abandoned factories, solve puzzles and finish group quests across different biomes, together or solo. Time-based missions mix puzzles, platforming and exploration.
- Companions. Companions are rescued and adopted, can be dressed up and come along with you. The official site names capybaras and turtles among other unique species.
- Mac. Loftia runs on Apple silicon Macs; Palia doesn't run on Mac at all.
Price and platforms
Palia is free to play everywhere, with an optional cosmetics shop. Loftia is a one-time purchase: $29.99, or $24.89 with the limited-time 17% launch discount, plus an optional cosmetics shop. Live game vs Early Access
Palia has been out since 2023 and keeps getting patches, events and new content. Loftia enters Early Access on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at 1 PM EST (6 PM GMT): the studio plans to keep adding activities, areas and social features with player feedback, so expect it to change a lot in its first months.

Love Palia? Try Loftia's free demo. It runs October 19–26, 2026, during Steam Next Fest and your progress carries over to launch, so there's nothing to lose. If neighborhoods, upcycling and sky islands sound like your thing, Loftia is the one to watch this fall. If you want a cozy MMO that's free and on your console today, Palia is still the place to be.
Most people who love one will enjoy the other. They're different enough that playing both doesn't feel like doing the same chores twice.
